Surprise surprise, the players didn't do what the DM thought they would, and they made it more difficult for themselves to boot. - Where have I heard that one before?

XP and "Stuff" are for me are just the "side quests" to the real task of enjoying the game. So long as I have enough "Stuff" to make the play entertaining you have a happy Bard. Playing alongside the rude and brutish Brant, the gorgeously ugly Emen, and the subtle "Brenda" with the foil of that lying, cheating, untrustworthy, half-demon under the watchful eyes of the un-french DM keeps me coming back for more.
